Playboy History

I had this database of Playboy centerfolds, 1953-2002 saved to blog at some point, but it's a good example of the folly of procrastinating these things -- it's gone now. Maybe it'll come back at some point, though, so there's the URL anyway.

Playboy cover from January 1972, my birth month Playboy cover from December 1976, the earliest I remember seeing Another good source for things like this, for people willing to spend some money, is Used Magazines.com. Their main interface is obnoxious to use, but they have an alternate interface that's okay, once you know it's there.

Their Playboy page has links for every year from 1953 through 2003, most with covers and tables of contents.

There’s that magazine place down on 3rd, the one you pass on the way to Rice Junkies. I know they have Playboy, but I’m not sure about their prices.

Is it called Cameron’s? I’m horrible with names. All I know is that it’s on 3rd. We should go there!

the one at 3rd and Stark, by the old office? Cameron’s sounds right, yes. I went in there once and didn’t find anything interesting, Playboys included, but I guess I just missed them?

For you Oklahoma City readers (and I know there are a couple! Anyone I know?), the used bookstore on the north side of 14th street, in that little shopping area between Classen and Penn, has old Playboys and Penthouses.
