Tivo Developer
Tivo's Home Media Option mostly just replicated what was already included in the ReplayTV 4000 well over a year ago, so it wasn't terribly interesting -- but Tivo's done something obviously better than Replay.
With the Replay, we had to struggle to reverse engineer every bit of functionality, and although they weren't as troublesome as they could have been, they never made it easy. The encryption change in the 4.3 release was particularly obnoxious, even (especially) since they had to know it wouldn't stop us.
Tivo, however, has a developer page documenting their discovery protocol and music and photo sever protocol; they don't document their streaming protocol, unsurprisingly, but even this much of a leg up is very nice.
